SOMERSET - A waitress at a local Pizza Hut received a big tip from a customer at the beginning of the month, enough to put her back on her feet again.
Krystal Kramer works at the Pizza Hut in Somerset County. She started in August, along with working at Area Aging Services.
In December, Kramer said her apartment flooded, leaving her and her roommate the only choice of living in a hotel.
The Meyersdale area celebrated their 77th annual Maple Festival, kicking off weekend festivities with a parade and more.
Officials say the maple festival brings together volunteers, local businesses, and community members each year. They say that people who visit the area for the occasion, which takes place over two weekends, can find a great number of activities to take part in.

SALT LAKE CITY (KUTV) — A district court in Utah recommended the release of Ruby Franke, known for her '8 Passengers' YouTube channel, who was charged with six counts of second-degree felony child abuse, pending trial.
A public safety assessment report suggested Franke's release before trial with restrictions, including monthly check-ins by phone. As of Wednesday, both Franke and her business partner Jodi Hildebrandt, remained in custody at Washington County Jail but in separate areas.
WASHINGTON (TND) — New research shows a significant decrease in remote and hybrid job opportunities for high-wage earners. According to Ladders, a website specializing in high-paying jobs, remote job opportunities paying at least $250,000 a year have declined by 60%, while hybrid jobs for the same salary range have plummeted by 95%.
This trend is not limited to high-income positions. LinkedIn reports that the demand for remote jobs far exceeds the supply, with twice the number of applications for remote positions compared to the available jobs.

Westmoreland County, PA — State police say they have launched a death investigation after a woman's body was found in a Westmoreland County pond.
Troopers say authorities were dispatched late Monday morning to an area along Broadview Road, in New Stanton Borough, for reports of "an object" floating in the pond.
Upon further investigation, authorities say the "object" was determined to be a deceased female.
Police described the woman as being approximately 5’04” to 5’05” tall with several tattoos, including one of a cat on her left thigh.
