FRANKLIN COUNTY, Pa. (WHP) — A flamingo that was injured in Franklin County after being attacked by a snapping turtle earlier this month has died after a long battle in recovery.
The flamingos first arrived in the area after they were thrown off course by strong hurricane winds in early September.

The flamingo was one of two that was found in Pennsylvania.
PUNXSUTAWNEY - The small town of Punxsutawney will fill with tourists from all over for Groundhog Day Thursday. But not only does the population surge for the holiday, so do rates at local hotels.
According to online reservations, a room at the Cobblestone Inn & Suits in Punxsutawney will cost nearly $400 on Wednesday and Thursday, compared with normally costing around $115.

Holiday Lights on the Lake returns to Lakemont Park in Altoona for it's 27th season and will be featuring traditional and new displays, along with treats from 150 sponsors, a press release states.
According to a press release by the park, Holiday Lights on the Lake will be open from 6 p.m. until 10 p.m. daily November 17th through January 7.
The event will feature traditions such as the Avenue of Trees, Tunnel of Lights and cinnamon nuts by Nuts for You while also enjoying some new ceramic LED illuminated displays.
Along with many cancellations due to the pandemic, a local fire company is refusing to completely forget about one of its annual fundraising events. Year after year, Howard Fire Company hosts the annual punkin chunkin. A long-time tradition of launching pumpkins through the air looked a little different this year. The virtual event still attracted hundreds to the Howard Fire Company's live facebook stream.

PITTSBURGH (WPXI) — Authorities say a one-year-old boy was shot and killed in a drive-by shooting Sunday in downtown Pittsburgh.
Police say a passenger in the car was the target, but the bullet went through the vehicle's window and hit the child.
The boy was pronounced dead at the scene.

CHICAGO (TND) — Steve Albini, the idiosyncratic producer and engineer who recorded era-defining alternative 90s rock albums by the likes of Nirvana, the Pixies, and P.J. Harvey, has died. He was 61 years old.
Albini, who also performed as a punk rock musician in the noise and post-punk bands Big Black, which he fronted, and Shellac, died of a heart attack, the staff of his recording studio, Electric Audio, confirmed to Pitchfork.
