PUNXSUTAWNEY - The Punxsutawney Area School Board decided on which consolidation plan to move forward with Wednesday night. The plan includes closing Bell Township, Jenks Hill, Longview, Mapleview and Parkview elementary schools. West End Elementary would be used as an administrative building. Seventh-grade students will move to the high school, with the middle school consisting of grades kindergarten through sixth. The board will vote on the plan at its next meeting June 12.
CAMBRIA COUNTY, Pa. (WJAC) — Organizers with the Lorain / Stonycreek Hiking Trails are gearing up for their "Beer, Wine, and Spirits Festival" coming up next month. It will take place Saturday, June 3rd at 1:00 PM at the trails along Green Valley Street in Johnstown. In addition to food vendors, attendees can sample and buy beer, wine, and spirits from vendors from across the region. Local musicians will perform including tunes from The Clarks.
Johnstown, PA (WJAC) — Authorities have identified the man gunned down Monday afternoon in the Moxham section of Johnstown. In a press conference Wednesday morning at the Cambria County Coroner’s office, officials identified the victim as 41-year-old Marvin Price, of Johnstown. Authorities say Price was shot and killed in a vehicle on the 600 block of Park Ave. around 2 p.m. The shooting happened near Saint Patrick’s Catholic Church and the school there was placed on lockdown as police responded.

Pittsburgh (WJAC) — According to multiple NFL sources, the Pittsburgh Steelers are reportedly signing veteran defensive-back Patrick Peterson to a two-year deal. Peterson, who is an 8-time Pro Bowler, previously played for the Minnesota Vikings and the Arizona Cardinals. He was selected in the first round (fifth overall) in the 2011 NFL Draft by the Cardinals. Peterson has played in 184 career games, over 12 seasons, and has recorded 34 interceptions and 610 total tackles.

Clearfield Co., PA (WJAC) — The West Branch Area School District is mourning the loss of high school student Asher Deets, who was killed in a house fire in Morrisdale early Monday morning. Officials say the fire started around 3 a.m. and the house on Morrisdale Allport Highway was "completely destroyed" by the blaze. A GoFundMe was created Tuesday in his memory. Deets is described by the school district as someone who was known for his smile and positive attitude.
HOLLIDAYSBURG, Pa. (WJAC) — Blair County authorities say they believe the slaying of a 27-year-old man in Hollidaysburg was over a “romantic rivalry,” and the killer has since taken his own life after being confronted by police.
